Testing vShield and Bitdefender

The BDTools installs as .MSI and adds the “B” icon in the taskbar tray. When

launched it opens as console that allows the user to confirm they are protected.

We found that Internet Explorer reacted negatively to its download and thought

it was itself a suspect .EXE. We would recommend downloading it on behalf of

the user and incorporating it into your template or parent VM.

Of course you will be keen to test if the anti-virus protection is in place. The

easiest way do that is to use the “EICAR Test AV File” – this is a text file that

contains a string that identifies itself as a virus AV software. It can be download

from the eircar.org website here:

Once downloaded and executed the AV should scan the file and identify it as

virus:
