The Windows 7 gold image layer, corporate applications, and departmental applications are created by

IT as stackable “layers.” These layers are non-persistent, and can be patched or updated by at any time.

While Unidesk templates are TRWD’s preferred method of provisioning desktops, a process was also

developed that allows for “one-off” desktop modifications, where application layers can be added as

needed. “A la carte” desktop provisioning is also easy with Unidesk layers.

Application Delivery

To simplify the delivery and patching of the numerous applications required by the TRWD workforce, all

corporate and departmental applications were packaged separately as Unidesk layers. TRWD’s IT staff

can now update all desktops just by patching or updating a single layer once.
