Conclusion
The Tarrant Regional Water District VDI deployment has been a work in progress for several years. The
IT staff at TRWD has “grown up” with desktop virtualization technology, and gained valuable experience
along the way. While limitations and inherent complexities of early VDI solutions prevented TRWD from
initially meeting its project requirements, persistence has paid off. The combination of Unidesk and
VMware View on HP hardware is enabling TRWD to significantly reduce the operational costs of desktop
management, accelerate delivery of new applications, provide employees anywhere/anytime access to
desktops, streamline the on-boarding of consultants, reduce energy use on endpoint devices, and
improve the quality of service that TRWD delivers to Tarrant County residents and communities.
