7. Remove from vCenter inventory virtual machine objects left behind at Site 1 for virtual
machines that were failed over to Site 2. It is almost time to create the new protection group(s) and
recovery plan(s). But before that step, the vCenter inventory at Site 1 is reviewed, and you will notice
that a virtual machine object still exists for the original virtual machine that was failed over. If you

machine object grays out, and the word “inaccessible appears next to it.
The reason that the virtual machine object grays out is because the storage that object resides on is



NOTE: If you are using NFS exports as was done in this example, a rescan will not change the Site 1
virtual machine object state. You can test the device state by simply trying to power the Site 1 virtual


