Using Command-Line Installation Options
Youcanalsousecommand‐lineinstallationoptionstoinstallWorkstationonaLinux
host.Tousetheoptions,youmustbeloggedinasroot.Afterfinishingtheinstallation
process,exitfromtherootaccount.
Thecommoncommand‐lineinstallationoptionsarethefollowing:
--gtk–OpenstheGUI‐basedVMwareinstaller,whichisthedefaultoption.
--console–Allowsyoutousetheterminalforinstallation.
--custom–Showsalltheinstallationquestions.Youcancustomizetheinstallation
directories,setorresettheEclipsedirectoriesandhardlimitforthenumberof
openfiledescriptors.
--regular–Showsinstallationquestionsthathavenotbeenansweredbeforeor
arerequired.Thisisthedefaultoption.
--required–ShowsonlytheEULA,thenproceedstoinstallWorkstation.
--ignore-errors or -I –Allowstheinstallationtocontinueevenifthereisan
errorinoneoftheinstallerscripts.However,thesectionthathasanerrordoesnot
